Raising Cane’s, a popular restaurant chain known for its chicken fingers and dipping sauces, wants to open a new location in the old Hometown Buffet building near the Promenade mall.
The Temecula Planning Commission will consider a conditional use permit and development plan for the project at its next meeting on Feb. 7.
If approved, it will be the first location for the Baton Rouge-based chain in the Temecula Valley. The arrival should be cheered by area residents who have been lobbying for the company to set up a shingle here.

The chain, which also is opening a location in Menifee, was founded by two former Alaskan salmon fishermen who worked on their business plan while studying at LSU.
The commission meeting is set for 6 p.m. in the Civic Center’s council chambers.
