Le Grange restaurant in downtown Murrieta opening this weekend

New downtown hot spot is located in the old Plowboys building on Washington Avenue.

Doug Wiens is ready to open the doors of Le Grange Grill & Cellars.

The restaurant, which is located in the old Plowboys building at 24683 Washington Ave. in downtown Murrieta, has scheduled a grand opening party for Saturday, according to its Facebook page.

The event includes a performance by Dulaney and Co., who are expected to play from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some of the other scheduled acts include L&D Acoustic Essentials, Geoff Ryle and personalities from 101.3 The Mix.

Wiens, winemaker for his family’s Wiens Winery in Temecula Valley’s Wine Country, teamed with a group of partners, including people who own the Orange Coast Winery locations in Corona Del Mar and Newport Beach, to transform the building into a downtown destination.

The effort was supported by the city of Murrieta, which has been trying to stoke economic activity in the downtown region.

The restaurant, which has already received some positive reviews from diners who visited during soft opening nights, is separated from a wine tasting room with an outdoor patio where Wiens offers tastings and sales.

Wiens is using a building in the rear of the property for wine production.
